While I was preparing for my key note speech I looked at the Institute for Public Speaking web site and followed the Hints & Tips: 11 Proven Ways to Make Speech or Presentation Truly Memorable.

I found this advice extremely helpful, and my key note speech was a success.

I strongly recommend the IFPS web site Hints & Tips. Thank you.

About The Institute for Public Speaking

The Institute for Public Speaking was created as a response to the appalling standard of public speaking in the United Kingdom and the exploitation of both speakers and their customers.

There are good speakers in the country; sadly there are a lot of indifferent speakers and downright bad speakers as well. Many of these are booked on the basis of some kind of ‘celebrity’ status – unscrupulous event organisers know that the right name will bring in an audience even if the result will be disappointing.

It is also true that there are many potential speakers who do not know how to go about a) improving their skills or b) where to get bookings.

Equally there are many organisations (especially those of limited financial means) that would love to engage speakers but do not know how to go about finding those that could meet their needs

The IfPS aims to solve these problems.

How do we improve the standard of Public Speaking?

By providing training in public speaking – free where possible, at sensible fees where necessary.

By providing a register of speakers of all ability levels for potential bookers to search – again as a free service.

Eventually by providing public speaking workshops to children in their final years at school to equip them to be great communicators in their futures.
